The aim of a 5-day workshop or study week under the European Study Groups with Industry (ESGI) is bring together researchers working on the boundary between mathematics and theoretical computer science (i.e. discrete mathematics (graph theory, combinatorics), and algebra).

The main motivation is to initiate collaboration between industry and mathematicians from academy in Slovenia. Given insights of the problems appearing in the industry, the participants will be motivated to tackle applied optimization problems, while the industry will benefit by having direct access to the theoretical knowledge.

The 5-day workshop under ESGI will be in parallel to SOR ’17 – The 14th International Symposium on Operations Research in Slovenia. Participants will present their findings and solutions on Friday (September 29) at SOR’17 in a special session.
